Poira Labs is an independent software studio building its own mobile apps and web projects. Most of what we make sits in the education category.
To make apps that help people learn and actually get opened day to day. Whether a screen works is decided by measuring use, not by guessing.
To stay a small studio that lives on its own products rather than on outside clients. We would rather keep a few apps good for a long time than carry many for a short one.
Poira Labs started out building mobile apps and web projects. In the early days that work was done for others; over time we moved onto products of our own.
We no longer sell software to institutions. We publish the apps we build directly on the App Store and Google Play, and we run our web projects ourselves.
Most of our apps are in the education category: practice, revision and exam-preparation flows are what we work on.
A few plain principles that decide how we work.
A new idea gets a small release rather than a long discussion. Dropping what does not work early is cheaper than dropping it late.
A release counts as finished when it has passed store review and runs on real devices. Everything before that is an estimate.
Design, development and release sit together. With no handovers in between, problems do not go missing.
Our apps are mostly used by people who are learning. Age-appropriate content and accessibility are not features bolted on later.
Write to us about our apps or about something we could build together.
